What happens at the Welcome Festival?

The Welcome Festival is for new and returning students. These first few weeks on campus will help you settle in, find your way around and prepare you for university life.

Saturday 13th September

Big СŷÊÓÆµ Welcome

11.00am - 3.00pm
Students' Union and The Quad
Free entry

Start your СŷÊÓÆµ journey with a chilled-out day of mingling with your fellow students and get to know your new surroundings.
Our friendly staff will be here to welcome you to the University and give you all the details on what life is like as a СŷÊÓÆµ student. We’ll have loads of information from the SU and University services, as well as fun activities throughout the day.
Make sure you stick around to grab something from our delicious barbeque and refresh upstairs in your student bar, The Hangar.

Sunday 14th September

Board Game Café

10.00am - 2.00pm

Looking to get away from all the hustle and bustle of Welcome Weekend?
Join us at the City Campus Café for a chilled-out afternoon of board games and refreshments. So come down with your friends or new housemates and take it easy with an afternoon of classic gaming.

 

Welcome Brunch

10.30am-12pm
Peirson Study and Guidance Centre

To kick off your university experience, we invite you to our "Welcome Brunch" on Sunday morning. Enjoy a selection of hot drinks and tasty bacon or sausage baps (vegan options available too) while mingling with your fellow new students and getting to know your flatmates better.
This brunch is not just about food and friends; it’s also a fantastic opportunity to connect with support staff who are here to answer any questions you may have about settling in and starting your studies. Whether you’re looking for advice, tips, or simply want to make new friends, the Welcome Brunch is the perfect place to start your journey. We look forward to seeing you there and helping you make the most of your first weekend on campus!

Wednesday 17th September

Welcome Fair

10.00am - 3.00pm
University Arena
Free entry

The Welcome Fair is the one event not to be missed this Welcome Festival, as we’re taking over the University Arena for our biggest Fair yet!
This is your opportunity to find out everything that goes on at the Students’ Union (SU) and University.
All of our sports clubs, societies, and networks will be there to let you know about all the activities you can get involved with during your time at СŷÊÓÆµ.
The SU will also be there with information on everything they do to support and represent you during your time at university. Make sure you come along to pick up some great freebies and speak to the friendly staff team.
We’ll also be joined by various services from the University, including the International Team, Residential Ambassadors, PCSOs, The Hive, Student Services, and a whole lot more.
And we’ll have a range of fantastic local and national companies to meet and grab some fantastic freebies from. And Domino’s will be back once again giving out slices of FREE pizza.

Friday 19th September

Big Friday Event

Tours of The Hive Library

As part of our Welcome Festival, we'll be offering tours of The Hive.

Find your way around your Hive. Discover study spaces to suit your needs and how to: find, borrow and return books; print and copy; access PCs and Wi-Fi; get help and learn more about The Hive as a social and event space.  

 

Welcome Festival Academic Timetable

As part of your academic induction, you will learn more about your course, and meet your fellow students and your lecturers. 

Your Course Tutors will set out your Welcome Festival academic timetable for you.  Your first week features a range of events where you'll meet the people who will be an important part of your time at СŷÊÓÆµ, and have opportunities to find out more about the exciting University community you have joined!
